Creating a language version of a course

Mika Tompuri edited this page Dec 9, 2024 · 3 revisions
  1. Make sure the first language version of the course is ready before starting the second language version. This is because the system creates new language versions by copying the original course, and during copying the system saves which pages and which exercises are the same content but in different languages.
  2. Go to manage the original course
  3. Select the "Language versions" tab
  4. Select "New"
  5. Fill the dialog and submit. The course will be copied now.
  6. In the language versions list there should be a new course for your new language version.
  7. Change the content in the new course from the original text to the translated text.

The language versions don't have to have the exact same content. Feel free to change text or exercises if you think it's necessary.

How to add new translations for UI elements

The MOOC team can provide the translator with the files that contain the terms used in the platfrom UI that should be translated. In the best case, the translator retains the format and sends us the translations in JSON (extension: .json) format so that they can be added to the system seamlessly.
