This page explains how you can control course visibility.

How to manage course visibility

  1. In admin mode, go to Overview tab.
  2. Click Edit button.

Draft - course visible to admin / teachers only

By default, all MOOC materials have their visibility status set to Draft. Draft courses are only visible to those users who have explicitly been given access to edit or view the course material. (You can manage permissions in the Permissions tab in admin mode).

Unlisted - course available through direct link

Unlisted courses are not shown in courses.mooc.fi course navigation (except to to course admins and teachers). However, the course materials are publicly available to anyone through the URL.

How to make a course 'unlisted'

  1. Go to Overviewtab in the admin view.
  2. Click Edit button.
  3. Uncheck Draft
  4. Check Unlisted
  5. Save changes

Joinable by code

Students can only join the course with a specific join link. The join link can be replaced with a new one if needed. This will invalidate the previous join code.

How to generate a join link

  1. Go to Overviewtab in the admin view.
  2. Click Edit button.
  3. Check Joinable by code only
  4. Save changes.
  5. Scroll to the botton of the overview tab.
  6. Click generate join course link.

After the join link has been generated, you can copy and share the link to those who need to access to the course material as students. NOTE! If you need to give access to edit, give the permission in the Permissions tab in admin mode, do not use the join link.

Public

Anyone can access a public course. The course is also visible in the courses.mooc.fi navigation.

How to make a course 'public'

  1. Go to Overviewtab in the admin view.
  2. Click Edit button.
  3. Uncheck Draft
  4. Save changes
