-
Islandora 7.x-1.3 release updates (Nick & Melissa)
- Today is release day! - Release email has been sent. Remaining tasks are documentation updating.
-
Islandora Sandbox (Donald & Paul)
- Sandbox is almost ready, except for one residual issue with searching inside book viewer. Nick linked to repo with extra config files for Solr https://github.com/yorkulibraries/basic-solr-config/commits/modular
-
Future Releases (Lessons Learned)
- More component managers - Nick had a large volume of components to manage in addition to the release. Need to pursue acquisition of managers more actively.
- Communication was not very effective on the list, because many people are not reading everything on the list. May need a new communication practice for release components. For the next release TODO: Create release mailing list.
- Documentation Document Interest Group should take a role and approach to release documentation (updating and publication around a release)
- JIRA Tickets for improvement - Jira tickets could be for desired new features and could be used to engage crowdfunding. We need to update text in https://github.com/Islandora/islandora/wiki/How-Islandora-Code-gets-Made#contributing-to-islandora and look an evolution of the approach taken to ticketing for improvements. Should ticket for new modules. The latest release only shows two improvements, when there are a large number of new modules released.
-
Nick has volunteered for the next release
-
Travis server keeps going down, and is taking a long time to fix. So we need a new CI approach that includes shared responsibility. DGI has been spending more and more time maintaining and hosting the public CI server. Requires a team of two to go back and make a recommendation re: approach (next step for an institution to host CI) Nick Volunteers alongside Nigel. TODO: Report back to group in a coming meeting.
-
Islandora Interest Groups:
- Preservation Interest Group (Donald) - Nothing to report. Mark suggests that chairs and co-chairs reach out to community through OR2014 social media channel and meet at OR.
- Documentation Interest Group (Kirsta and Gabriela) - Nothing to report
- Fedora 4 Interest Group (David)
-
Islandora/Fedora 4 Alpha Project
- should be synced with announcement of Fedora 4 Interest group - week of May 5? Intent behind interest group. TODO: Sam and Mark - Draft press release about Fedora 4 should go out next week.
-
Crowdfunding possibilities - brainstorming document - picking a project that would lend itself to a crowdsource funding approach. This is a list of potential projects. Meeting members spent time working on this document. TODO: Give some additional thought to projects on page and see about fleshing out ideas in this document.
-
Islandora Camp Updates
- iCampUK - looking at getting additional sticks
- iCampGTA - GTA camp needs a separate meeting
- iCampCO - Robin has been contacted. Details are being fleshed out.
- Possibility of Florida camp in early 2015 - Melissa at University of Florida. Sam to follow up in a couple of week.

Framework questions
- FFMPEG dependency ... should we investigate http://libav.org/about.html as an alternative/replacement ? - probably keep for now
- Video/Audio player... should we focus on providing an alternative player for the Audio/Video SP ?
- https://github.com/ruebot/islandora_videojs (Nick - I'll send a foundation offer after the release)
- Audio option - SoundCloud player? https://github.com/soundcloud/soundcloud-custom-player
- PDF viewer
- Is this something we should request from Nelson ? https://github.com/nhart/islandora_pdfjs_reader
https://github.com/ksclarke/freelib-djatoka http://mediaelementjs.com/ https://github.com/MorganDawe/islandora_wellcome
