For Playstation remote play, you have two choices. Chiaki- an open-source implementation of the PlayStation remote play client or the official remote play client. Both approaches have pitfalls. So, please read the guide to choose what works best for you.

Setting up Handheld Companion (HC)

  1. Open the main Handheld Companion (HC) window.
  2. Navigate to the controller page.
  3. In the "Controller" section, select the "Emulated DualShock 4 Controller" option from the dropdown menu. image

Enabling DS4 touchpads on non steamDeck hardware

  1. Go to the hotkeys menu
  2. Find the "Display Virtual trackpads" setting and set your preferred shortcut image
  3. To modify the look and position of the virtual trackpads, go to the overlay tab and go to the trackpad options image

Setting up Chiaki

For Windows handhelds, you can either use the official Chiaki release or the QT6 Fork. The official release does not support the touchpad on the DS4 controller, while the fork does. Again the choice is up to you.

The official guide for setting up Chiaki is still valid for the recommended fork. Follow the steps below to set up Chiaki for remote play: https://sr.ht/~thestr4ng3r/chiaki/#obtaining-your-psn-accountid

Once you have successfully set up Chiaki, you can enjoy remote play on your PS4 or PS5 console. image
