Lenovo Legion Go

Supported since: HandheldCompanion

Using Handheld Companion v. 0.19.0.2 (beta 4) or newer, you have the ability to remap all the buttons of the Legion Go as well as properly configure the unit's gyroscope. The gyroscopes on the joycons are still not working correctly. This is because a firmware update is needed from Lenovo's side.

Basic configuration

In order to avoid conflicts between the software, you will need to disable the DAService from the services list and reboot your device. You cannot just stop it so you will have to disable it and reboot:

LED control and ambilight

Starting from v. 0.19.0.3 (beta 5) you can now control the LEDs on the device.

You can turn the LEDs on or off as well as change the brightness. Handheld Companion allows you to use 2 presets for the colors: Solid and Ambilight

The Solid option allows you to set a fixed color for both controllers and have that all the time.

The Ambilight option extracts the color information from the left and right edges of the device's screen and respectively uses that color for the LED illumination.

⚠️ In order for the Handheld Companion to be able to control the LEDs of the device, you will need to open LegionSpace once and change the LED settings. You can use whichever light effect you want but the effect inside the profile needs to be Solid:

legionspace_settings

Then click on profile and select Solid:

Since Legion Space 1.0.2.5, it is no longer possible to assign colors to the sticks individually.

FAQ

Help! HandHeld Companion is messing with my TDP settings!

Well... It's not! HandHeld Companion will take over control of the TDP settings from Legion Space in order for some features like the Riva statistics to work. HandHeld Companion will NOT make any changes or "mess" with these settings in any way. The only difference is that the frontend to adjust these settings is moving from Legion Space to HandHeld Companion. All the features are still in tact and custom TDP profiles can be created in HandHeld Companion using the Custom Profile "slots" provided by Legion Space.

So if that's the case, why is my device shutting down on heavy load?

UPDATE: Since LegionSpace update 1.0.2.7 and HC 0.20.x, the fan curves can now be adjusted directly through HC.

This is an issue that is present even on Legion Space and it has to do with the fan curves not being properly set up. It might have become more apparent now because of the STAMP TDP mode, but it has been there since the beggining. Lenovo said that they are aware of this and it will be addressed with an update, in the first quarter of the new year by providing custom fan curve settings.

So what do I do until this update is released? I want to be able to use my device without it shutting down!

UPDATE: Since LegionSpace update 1.0.2.7 and HC 0.20.x, this toggle is absolete since the the fan curves can now be adjusted directly through HC.

Since Handheld Companion 0.19.1.8, a switch is provided in the quicktools menu, under the Device tab, that allows to set the fan to maximum on demand. This will effectively cool the device down and completely solve the shutdown issue:
