Our commercial support page was copied from the confluence wiki and originally written when the financial aspects of open source sustainability were still being developed.
This introduction, and the description of the core-contributor, *experienced-providers, and additional services can now be updated.
- Propose cutting down the introduction to:
h1. Geoserver Commercial Support
As a popular and mature project we are pleased to see GeoServer commercial support offered a range of service providers outlined below.
Using a service provider is a great way to get started with GeoServer and important to the ongoing sustainability of the project. In addition to training, setup, and integration assistance many service providers are in position to report and fix issues on your behalf. This work directly makes GeoServer better for everyone and is vitally important.
By choosing a service provider that helps directly as part of the leadership, or demonstrated capability to contribute as part of the team, you can help GeoServer continue to grow and thrive.
We also wish to recognize importance of local and regional support. If you are working with a service provider not on our list please encourage them to contact us and take part in the GeoServer community.
- Being more focused on the category descriptions:
h2. Core Contributors
Core contributors take on an ongoing responsibility for the GeoServer project are highly recommended. On behalf of their customers these service providers are responsible for the core application and extensions and are in an excellent position to provide fast and efficient support. In addition core-contributors sustain the GeoServer community by answering questions online, tracking vulnerabilities, making releases, and helping promote the project.
- Planet Federal
- GeoSolutions
- Astun Technologies
- GeoCat
h2. Experienced Providers
Experienced providers demonstrate a successful history with the project and are recommended. These service providers work on GeoServer when hired by you, but are not active on an ongoing basis.
- The Where Group
- Geocursos
- terrestris
h2. Service Providers
Many other organizations sell training, setup and integration support and can assist you with the use of GeoServer. The following service providers have asked to be listed on this page:
- Camptocamp
- Alkante
- North River Geographic Systems, Inc
- NGS
- GISPO
For organizations interested in being listed above please see our developers guide for instructions.
- Write in the developers guide a checklist or something for organizations seeking to be listed:
core-contributors: organizations demonstrating an ongoing responsibility (security responsible disclosure response, releases, supported extension). Core contributors are signed up to the geoserver-devel and geoserver-user lists (and responsible disclosure list) and you can see their work week by week.
experienced providers: Demonstrate the ability to contribute directly to project sustainability in some form (perhaps implemented a GSIP or proposal on behalf of their customer?). These folks work on geoserver when hired by their customers but are not always active. If you do hire an experienced provider they already have signed a contribution agreement and have experience writing a proposal to affect the roadmap. Chances are experienced providers have products based on GeoServer and help test release candidates.
service provider: provide some consulting, training or assistance on geoserver use and integration to their customers. We are pretty sure these organizations are still operational, but maybe not?
