Goal 6 in the Carpentries strategic plan is to Advocate for our values and vision to empower more people to work with data and software. Under this goal is the following objective:

  • Identify speaking and presenting opportunities for Core Team, Executive Council, and Community members that are strategically appropriate to strengthen the visibility of The Carpentries and model our values.

This issue tracks presentations that Carpentries Core Team and community members have facilitated on behalf of the organisation.

  • (May 2022) gave a short talk, titled The Carpentries: Benefits of a collaborative approach to RS skills training, at the Future Opportunities for Software in Research. This ended up as a recording shared with the attendees, after time ran out in the event session itself.
  • (May 2022) presented about The Carpentries and our curriculum development community at a cohort call of The Turing Institute's Data Science and AI Educators' Programme
    • this talk was recorded, I will edit this post to share the link when I receive it.
  • (May 2022) @zkamvar and I presented a workshop, titled Collaborative Lesson Development with The Carpentries Workbench, as part of the Software Sustainability Institute's Research Software Camp series.
    • I think this was recorded too - I will check...
  • (June 2022) presented an invited talk (passed to me by @kariljordan), titled Development & Use of Open Educational Resources at Scale, at a session on Open Educational Resources at The Statistical Society of Canada's annual meeting.
