@bjeurissen: note the approach taken here is to only ignore tag nested within Philips private sequence for the DICOM group 0020. Seems to check out OK with my testing (note the only failing tests below are mismatching transforms for Philips data). I'll try ignoring any element nested within a Philips private sequence as well just to check.

OK, the change suggested here, which is to ignore any tag nested within a Philips private sequence, is indeed probably too stringent. I get additional failures on testing:
