If it is greater than 5.7, need to jailbreak by soldering onto the serial bus.
- Check HW Serial number. HW Serial number should be start with: 90C6 which means it is KT2, BASIC
- Reset Kindle. Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Reset. WAIT. Set Language.
- Copy update_KT2_5.6.0_initial.bin to the kindle via usb
- eject. hold down power > restart. This will do a software update. It will take a long time. Just wait ~10 mins or more.
- copy main-htmlviewer.tar.gz to the kindle. eject.
- go home > search > type: ;installHtml - press return. it will restart.
- copy Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.14.N_install.bin to the kindle. eject
- Home > menu > Settings > Menu > Update your Kindle
- copy update_kindle_5.8.11.bin to kindle
- Home > menu > Settings > Menu > Update your Kindle
- Copy KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 to kindle IN THE /documents folder
- Copy /extensions and /mrpackages to the kindle
- go into kual and run > helper > install mrpackages
- settings > wireless > do it
- unplug
- go to kual and enable usb over networking
- add device in networking: Configure ipv4 manually, ip: 192.168.15.201 subnet: 255.255.255.0
