Source of Tales has a high mapping standard. We will carefully review any new maps done for the game before accepting them for the game, providing feedback which will help to get a map accepted to the game.
Please be aware that mapping is a time consuming task! It's a form of art, will most likely require some training, and you might have to do some map parts multiple times until they look right. If you want to hurry, you might never achieve a good map.
This is a collection of some articles which are related to the map development for Source of tales:
- Where to start: Explains how to begin participating in the project as a mapper (what to map, installing tiled)
- Map layout: What layers a map consists of and how they are interpreted by the engine
- Map objects: How to place warps, spawn areas, waypoints etc.
- Stylistical tips: What we believe to be the difference between good and bad maps
- Common errors: A collection of common mapping errors
- Reviewing a map: Short checklist what has to be done when reviewing a map (for advanced/experienced mappers only)
