FAQ
Refined Storage 2 is the next major version, an evolution, of Refined Storage (1).
In terms of features the mod will largely stay the same. There will be some subtle differences here and there, but nothing too huge. See it as a new coat of paint. When Refined Storage 2 nears completion, we will share a list of the most important changes.
Besides slight changes to the existing feature set, Refined Storage 2 will have support for the Fabric mod loader (along the NeoForge mod loader).
Yes. As soon as Refined Storage 2 has feature parity with Refined Storage 1, Refined Storage 2 will replace Refined Storage 1.
This will only happen between Minecraft versions, that way we can more easily break compatibility.

Because Refined Storage 2 is still unfinished, in development.
There are multiple ways to check progress:
The mod is developed in milestones, and every milestone gets a few releases.
- Milestone 1 has been completed and brought all the core features, basic functionality.
- Milestone 2 has been completed and brought features related to input/output, interacting with the world.
- Milestone 3 has been completed and brought more networking and wireless access tools.
- Milestone 4 is in progress and will bring autocrafting.
There is no ETA. Refined Storage 2 will be done as soon as it reaches feature parity with Refined Storage 1.
Report those on the Refined Storage 1 repository (not this one). From there, multiple things can happen:
- Your idea is denied
- Your idea is accepted, and will be added into Refined Storage 2
- Your idea is accepted, and will be added into both Refined Storage 1 and Refined Storage 2
NeoForge and Fabric.
Refined Storage 2 has Fabric support because I'm excited to try out Fabric and its ecosystem, and because it gives players an incentive to try out the new version, since NeoForge has a complete working edition already.
The reason for Refined Storage 2 isn't "porting to Fabric", although it's a nice side effect. I'm making Refined Storage 2 in function of code quality and future-proofing, not in function of a modloader. It is also a good excercise to make the code modloader independent.
No. One of the goals for Refined Storage 2 is to gain support for the Fabric mod loader. We are working on it, but not for Refined Storage 1.
No, since Refined Storage 2 is still in active development, it does not make sense to spend time backporting to older Minecraft versions.
All time is going into getting Refined Storage 2 done.
Refined Storage 2 only supports the latest Minecraft version, and will update as soon as a new Minecraft version comes out.
No, and I'm just now realizing that the name "RS2" has a connotation with "AE2". This is unintended, it's simply the next major version number for Refined Storage.
Refined Storage 2 will get an official release on CurseForge and Modrinth if it reaches feature parity with Refined Storage 1.
