SOP: Creating a new pattern

  1. The pattern description is of central importance, as it will be the main information by which users determine whether the pattern is applicable for their use case. Therefore, we suggest to write a defintion including:
    1. At least 2, better 3 example terms.

    2. A concise definition should mention the following elements clearly, including examples for each:

      • the primary bearer (i.e. the biological process, anatomical entity, etc that the quality mentioned by the EQ refers to).
      • the quality (not necessarily the references PATO class, but the biological intention)
      • the any other logical entities referenced by the EQ.
    3. Examples of description: "Definition: A phenotype in which a biological process occurs abnormally more often per unit of time in a specific location. Examples: "abnormally increased cell proliferation in x" (http://example). Usage instructions (optional): Do not use this pattern to indicate quantity of occurrence, e.g. in conjunction with population processes such as cell population proliferation. (see abnormalOccurrenceOfBiologicalProcess). Related patterns: abnormal occurrence (synonym/antonym analogy)".
