Tiyi is the Chinese word for memory, those whispy things in our minds that allow us to relive things we've done and experienced in the past. A tiyi can be triggered by something we see, or a sound that we hear. However, our memories are our own, difficult to share, and even more difficult to understand. Tiyi.com changes that. Now, you can capture your memories as you experience them and then share them with others on thier laptop, mobile device, or even thier Smart-tv.
How do we do this? Two of the most important ways we experience memories are through sight and sound. Social networking sitea already allow us to catalog our visual memories in the form of pictures and videos, but it is difficult to focus on one event at a time. Tiyi.com takes these memories and pairs them with sounds, songs and other media to provide your memory both a visual and auditory context.
When we have important times in our life that we'd like to share, we invite our friends and family to attend. If they're able to attend, we share that event and it becomes a shared memory, or a tiyi. However, if we meet new friends and family, we can't share that memory with them other than through large photo-albums and videos.
Have you ever wanted to attend a major event like a wedding, sweet-16 party, or game, but couldn't? Now, you dont' have to. As long as someone there has created a photo-album, you can use Memories.tv to "attend" the event from any smart-tv connected to the Internet.
Are you planning an event and want to share it with your family and friends? Instead of e-mailing a large video file, you can now simply create a Memories project and e-mail the pin. Anyone can use the pin to view your event's highlights.
Are you an event planner for weddings, parties, or even funerals? Now you can offer a memorialization service to your clients so they can view their memories on any smart-tv connected to the internet.
Memories.tv is composed of an Android or iPhone application and a Yahoo Connected TV application.
The cell-phone application is used to create a memories project. To make each project, a user:
- Identifies a photo-album created with another tool (like Instragram, Facebook or a myriad of others).
- Identifies a "transition" between photos.
- Identifies the music list to be played while the photos are presented. (Note: The music license must be owned by the person who creates the memories project.)
- Saves the project and receives a pin used to view the memories project.
The Smart TV app is used to display the memories project. To use the smart TV application, the user:
- Installs the TV application from the Yahoo store (available on their smart TV).
- Opens the TV application on their smart TV.
- Types in the pin provides by Memories.tv.
- The Memories project will play until the application is turned off.
