I wanted to make an Android app without Android Studio.
The tool you'll need: https://devenv.sh/ (and nix)
Assuming you've gotten devenv up and running, you may now run
# One-time.
$ create-avd # Creates an emulator, only have to run this once.
$ gradlew buildDebug --refresh-dependencies # Download dependencies.
# Every time.
$ devenv up # Starts emulator; gradle installDebug in watch mode.
# ^ Sometimes first load will fail to install the app, but make a file
# change or run `gradlew installDebug` to install the app then.
You should find the AppStarter
app in the android app menu. The app doesn't auto restart on change, contributions welcome.
I yoinked the app starter template from https://github.com/abualgait/AppStarter , and personally have no idea what is in it at this point, but it worked so I'm cool with it.
