A Sinatra based MBTiles server.
Silent Cartographer depdends on several other software packages. Fortunately, most of those dependencies are managed for you.
If you don't already have RVM, install that first. Then:
- Download the latest build of Silent Cartographer from here, or
git clone https://github.com/jwhitehorn/silent_cartographer.git - cd into silent_cartographer - RVM will prompt you, please read and agree.
ruby -vshould confirm that you are running Ruby 1.9.2, if not, something is wrong with RVM.- Install gems
gem install bundler && bundle install
Lukily there isn't much to configure, as the MBTile format itself takes care of several of the details. To configure Silent Cartographer, you'll simply need to specify the location of your MBTiles file. By default, the app looks for a file called map.mbtiles in the application's root. You can either copy/rename your own MBTiles to map.mbtiles, or you can edit the config/database.rb configuration file and specify your own path.
You are now done setting up the app. To launch it now, or any time in the future, simply rackup! You will be greeted with somthing similar to:
>> Thin web server (v1.4.1 codename Chromeo)
>> Maximum connections set to 1024
>> Listening on 0.0.0.0:9292, CTRL+C to stop
In this case, you'd point your web browser to http://localhost:9292 to see your maps.
