The Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run is held in Utah the first Friday and Saturday after Labor Day each year.
The 2023 race is September 8-9, 2023.
The radio lead for Pole Line Pass is Josh Buhler.
One of the race organizers drove up to check out the road one more time, and while the gate has been opened, it's just been closed closer to the washout. As a result, the only actual access to Pole Line is from the east. If you normally travel up through American Fork Canyon, plan accordingly.
We got an update from the race organizers that the gate has been opened, and the road to Pole Line is now open, without needing to go up from Cummings Parkway.
A route to Pole Line Pass is confirmed to be open. The route runs from Stringtown Road in Midway, up Cascade Springs Drive to Cummings Parkway Road, which takes you to Pole Line Pass. You can view the route on Gaia GPS, or download the GPX file.
The race organizers provide a "thank you" item to each volunteer. You can receive either a t-shirt with long or short sleeves, a hat, or a belt buckle. Radio folks will receive a "COMMUNICATIONS" buckle. You can get one of these three items. Just let Josh know by September 1 what you would like, and if it's a shirt, what size.
The race director, spoke with USFS and discussed access to Pole Line Pass and Ant Knolls. They were very understanding and are also interested in our having access to these two aid station locations. They stated that there is current access from the south along the Cummings Parkway road. This access starts from Cascade Springs, goes up to Staton aid station, then north along the ridge (Cummings Parkway), finally to a junction with Snake Creek road above the closure gate in Snake Creek.
Forest Road 85 is currently closed, restricting access to much of American Fork Canyon and Snake Creek Canyon. At this time it's impossible to access the Pole Line Pass and Ant Knolls aid station locations.
This closure is due to a road failure just above Tibble fork in American Fork Canyon at an area called "the narrows". Although this is far away from our aid stations, because of far-flung property gate locations, USFS has closed the road from Tibble Fork in American Fork canyon up and over Pole Line Pass, and then down into Snake Creek canyon (until five miles above Midway).
The test packet system is now up and running.
The W100 has established new mandatory in-time cut offs for certain aid stations, including Pole Line Pass. This policy was established to protect both the runners and the aid station volunteers. Please take time to read and be familiar with the new policy.
