I am a PhD student in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program (with a minor in Statistics) at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. I am interested in promoting sustainable πΏ and eco-friendly agriculture from the soil microbial π¦ perspective. More specifically, I am interested in improving the detection of soil microbiome functional genes related to important biogeochemical processes, such as nitrogen cycling. I work part-time at a cancer diagnosing company as a bioinformatics scientist consultant π§¬, where I get the exiciting opportunities to use different machine learning and statistical methods to predict cancer.
I consider myself as a curious person and passionate & efficient π learner. I always get excited seeing unknown knowledges and new technologies, and would immediately start to collect resources and learn about them! Other than that, most of the time I am a happy person in life thanks to my great and supportive PI, my wonderful teammates, and best friends and families. So grateful π§‘βοΈ!
- Developed a bioinformatics software (bash & python) that designs high-throughput qPCR primers for environmental specific functional genes of interest. We are working on packing it up to a snakemake π pipe!
- Investigating the global and soil-focused diversity of nitrification gene
- Systematically evaluating a microbiome function prediction tool using different statistical simulations and methods
- Investigating soil microbiome functions with deep learning
- I enjoy working on and learning statistical analysis and data visualization, programming, and machine learning projects. Always look to collaborate on fun projects!
- I am an enthusiastic swimmer π despite I am not quite good at it π. just started bouldering π§ββοΈ as well!
