LeanLauncher-1.1.9-24-play-optimized.apk: debug version, with working Google Now feed

LeanLauncher-1.1.9-24-play-release.apk: release version, same as on Google Play Store, Google Now feed and At A Glance does not work

Changelog:

  • Removed Feed and native At A Glance related options from the release version. They still exist in the debug version.

Reasoning behind the removal

Before anything: the debug versions have the Feed and native At A Glance untouched, they still work like they were working before.

Now, to the point: Google has started to add new, more strict policies recently, which they now enforce harder than ever. This is a good thing. These are usually aimed to protect the end user, you. New policies include things such as restricted SMS and call log access. One of this is the ability to install third party apps outside of the Play Store, as Google puts it: We don't allow apps that let users install other apps to their devices. This may include the companion app required for native At A Glance, and the debug versions for the Google Feed, hence why they are now removed from the release version.

At the very least, the moment Google notices these add-ons in Lean Launcher, the app would have been removed from the Play Store. At worst, Lean would have been suspended, and I would receive a strike, possible even an account ban. This is not something that I want. This was a heavy decision to make, but ultimately, it is the right thing to do.

You can find a more detailed, official standpoint from Google here.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
