SETUP

Required Mods:
FF12 External File Loader: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy12/mods/170
FF12 LUA Loader: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy12/mods/171

  1. Download ffxiitm.apworld, test.zip, and ffxii_tm_ap.lua, and FFXII_001
  2. Navigate to your installation of FFXII (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE)
  3. In this folder, navigate to the mods folder (or create it if it doesn't exist)
  4. Extract the contents of test.zip into the mods folder
  5. Back in the root directory, navigate to /x64/scripts/ and place ffxii_tm_ap.lua inside
  6. Navigate to /x64/modules/config/ and find your ff12-file-loader.ini file
  7. Edit ff12-file-loader.ini to add the line "test=mods\test" under [Paths]
  8. In your AP installation, place your ffxiitm.apworld file in your worlds folder (usually /lib/worlds/)
  9. Open ArchipelagoLauncher.exe
  10. Click "Generate Template Settings". This will open file explorer
  11. Find "Final Fantasy XII Trial Mode.yaml" and copy it to /Players/ (create this folder if it does not exist)
  12. Open the YAML file and change the line that says "name: Player{number}" to your desired player name.
  13. Run ArchipelagoGenerate.exe
  14. Take the newly created AP_XXX.zip file in /output/ in upload it here: https://archipelago.gg/uploads/
  15. Open ArchipelagoLauncher.exe
  16. Click "FFXIITM Client" and connect to your server hosted on archipelago.gg
  17. Open steam, right click FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE, and click properties
  18. In the general tab, toggle off "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE"
  19. Navigate to your FFXII saved games (usually My Games\FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE\76561198064630370)
  20. Backup your saves
  21. Place FFXII_001 inside
  22. Play!

Randomizer

  • The is a randomizer for the Trial Mode in Final Fantasy XII TZA
  • Start by loading the provided save file, which takes you to The Lightworks, which serves as your home base for the player.
  • At any time you may teleport to the Lightworks by holding F11. You can teleport to Trial 1 by holding F1. (This changes the game speed by default, so consider remapping this button)
  • Each character starts at level 1 with 300 LP.
  • The party also starts with 3000 gil, which you may spend at the vendor at the bottom of the stairs.
  • When entering the trials, monsters now give XP.
  • Each chest in the trials are AP items. Upon opening the chest, you'll receive an item called "Trial X Chest Y"
  • Completing trials and moving onto the next now heals the party to full HP and removes all status conditions, but does not restore MP or mist.
  • The LUA script parses your inventory to find these items and sends the location check to the server.
  • When you receive an item (either from a location check you sent or from another player) you will see that you receive the item plus an AP Voucher. This helps the LUA script know which items you have and haven't received from the client. DO NOT SELL THESE.
  • See how far you can get in the trials! When you party gets low, teleport back to the Lightworks by holding F11 before you wipe and get a Game Over screen. This allows you to heal, modify your licenses, gambits, party makeup, and save.
