Creating / Importing Maps
OSMScout is an offline mapping application. Later on, in-app downloads for map files will be possible, until then you have to create your own.
Step 1: Download the map file of your choice, e.g. from http://download.geofabrik.de/
Step 2: You need the libosmscout import tool, in Ubuntu (Desktop) install it as follows: type the following commands in a terminal:
sudo apt-add-reporitory ppa:fransschreuder1/osmscout-import
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libosmscoutimportgui0
OSMScoutImport
Now open the downloaded file and wait until the process is finished.
Step 3: Copy the generated files (some .ost, .dat, .idx and .oss files) into a subdirectory of Maps in SDCard or Documents
