FAQ's

Why build another template framework? Aren't there already several others?

At Cory Webb Media, we have been building custom Joomla! templates for years. We developed Motif back in October 2009 to scratch our own itch. We felt that the existing template frameworks suffered from either restrictive proprietary licensing or were just too complex to really serve our purposes. We released Motif because we believe it is the simplest template toolkit available for Joomla!, and we want to empower web designers to become Joomla! template developers.

Are there any usage restrictions?

No. The Motif framework is licensed under the GNU/GPL, the same license as Joomla!.

Can I build templates with /motif and distribute them?

Yes. Because Motif is licensed under the GPL, you can build and distribute templates with Motif as long as you comply with the GPL license.
