Running Hentoid on Windows

RobbWatershed edited this page Sep 16, 2023 · 4 revisions

Introduction

Windows 11 has introduced and progressively refined a new feature called Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), which is basically an Android emulator packaged and maintained by Microsoft.

With late 2022 updates, WSA has become capable enough to fully support Hentoid.

How to install WSA?

1/ Follow any of these tutorials :

NB1 : You may skip the part that explains how to sideload Android apps and go to the next step (WSA Pacman).

NB2 : Some CPUs may require you to enable virtualization for WSA to properly work. You'll usually find that switch in your BIOS setup.

2/ Install WSA Pacman (makes APK installation easier) : https://github.com/alesimula/wsa_pacman/releases/latest/

How to install Hentoid on WSA?

1/ Download the latest Hentoid APK : https://github.com/avluis/Hentoid/releases/latest/

The downloaded APK file should be displayed with the WSA PacMan blue icon.

2/ Double-click the APK file and select "Install"

3/ Hentoid should now be available from your start menu, as any other app :-)

FAQ

Q : I don't have Windows 11 and can't install WSA! How can I run Hentoid on my PC?

A : If WSA doesn't work, the best chance you have to run Hentoid on a computer is to use an Android emulator.
