Simply taking the latest one didn't work in practice, because neither the WOW client nor Curse can deal with this properly.
Turns out that using a more recent version causes the addon to be listed as "incompatible" by the live client, and Curse didn't like this approach either.

It's become evident that neither the WOW client not Curse are able to infer live compatibility from the PTR version.
