Tokyo Hacker Space has a Roland CAMM1 PNC-1100 vinyl cutter/plotter.
- Plug in power
- Connect to your computer. The CAAM1 has both an old parallel and a 25 pin serial port. Note that the serial port needs a crossover adapter in order to work properly. See image below: 25 to 9 pin adapter, crossover adapter, female to male adapter, serial to USB. (Not pictured: USB A to C adapter).
- We also have a parallel to USB cable, but I couldn't get it working.
- The easiest way to use it should be to use the software Inkcut. There is also software for Adobe Illustrator or CortelDRAW (see links below).
- In the device settings, use the following settings:
- The CAMM1 was primarily designed to cut rolls of vinyl to make stickers. There is a knife included that should work for this purpose.
- The knife may also be removed and pens or markers can be inserted assuming they are the right size. You can tape around pens to make them fit properly. 3D printed inserts can also be used to get them to fit.
