This update includes options for exporting and importing the settings file, an important fix, language updates and more!

0.11.3 - New Options

This update includes two new options, dependency changes, language updates and more!

• New: Added option to refresh IP information after restoring a minimized window. #107

• New: Added option to show time of last external information refresh as the last item in the grid.

• New: The list of translations on the About page now has a column showing translation percentage (compared to the en-US language file).
• New: Added method to compare language files.
  • Use Ctrl+Shift+K to compare.
  • Comparison results can be found in the log file. Scroll to the bottom if needed.
• New: Added info icon to Language Settings that references the previous item.
• New: Added NerdBank.GitVersioning package as a replacement for GitVersion.MsBuild package.
• New: Removed the deprecated CommunityToolkit.WinUI.Notifications package.
  • The toast message issued when the external IP address changes will be a little different.

• If you can't upgrade to .NET 8, you can still use Get My IP by choosing one of the self-contained versions to download.

0.9.8 - New French Language and New Download/Install Options

This update includes the French language and new download/installation options

Apart from bug fixes and translation updates, I expect the pace of updates to Get My IP to slow down as I turn my attention to projects that have been neglected for too long. When I return to Get My IP in 2024, I will be upgrading it to .NET 8, which was released in November and is the next LTS version of .NET.

• New: Added option to hide Exit in the navigation menu. #55
• Updated: NLog and H.NotifyIcon.Wpf dependencies have been updated to their latest versions.
• Updated: Improved resiliency when internet connection is not available.
• New: Additional download and installation options. See below.

New download and installation options ✨

With this release I'm adding Self Contained versions both the portable and installer versions. In this context, Self Contained means that the required .NET files are included. A self contained installation does not require that the .NET runtime is installed. Of course, by including the required .NET files, the installation is much larger. Download the installer or zip archive that best suits your needs.

In addition:

• Publishing a Self Contained build requires that either x86 or x64 be targeted. Consequently, there are versions for each x86 and x64.
• The filename of the Self Contained builds will indicate the architecture, either x86 or x64.
• The name of the zip archives has been changed from NonInstall has been changed to Portable.
• The Checksums table below has been updated to include a description for each file.

0.9.7 - Mostly bug fixes with some new options

This update includes new options and fixes some bugs 🐛🐜🐞

Apart from bug fixes and translation updates, I expect the pace of updates to Get My IP to slow down as I turn my attention to projects that have been neglected for too long. When I return to Get My IP in 2024, I will be upgrading it to .NET 8, which was released earlier this month and is the next LTS version of .NET.

Changes:

• Fixed: Settings will now be saved every time a user navigates away from the Settings page. Settings were saved at shutdown, but this can be an issue with a long running application.
• Fixed: If a newer version of Get My IP is found when checking for an updated release from the About page, clicking OK in the resulting message box will now close Get My IP after navigating to the GitHub Releases page.
• Fixed: Only one Instance of Get My IP will be allowed to run at a time. This fixes the scenario described in Issue #51. Logging to a permanent log file is exempted from the only one instance rule.
• Fixed: Logging to a permanent log file was broken in d1e9f05. It now works correctly.
• Fixed: The list of translation contributors on the about page is now aligned correctly. This didn't cause any harm, it just bugged me.
• New: Added Free IP API as an IP information provider. It's good to have options.
• New: The list of IP information providers used by Get My IP is now available at the bottom of the about page.
• New: An option to show external IP type (IPv4 or IPv6) in the tray icon tooltip has been added.

This update has a new language and some exciting new options

Possible Breaking Change:

Adding the notification mentioned above required changing the build to target windows10.0.19041 or higher. Get My IP may no longer work on WIndows 7, 8, or Windows 10 with build numbers lower than 19041.
