Google Summer of Code

Google Summer of Code

Google Summer of code (also know as GSOC) is a annual program that helps to introduce more developers to open source development. Open source projects are projects that are open to the public. This implies that anyone can add lines of code to the project. Apart from lines of code, contributions can also help in the development of the documentation, marketing, design or translation. At the end of the day great team work is achieved and the open source project is greatly improved because of Google Summer of Code

KwickerHub

Kwickerhub Logo Kwickerhub is a community of developers that intend to improve the approach to web development and design. Kwickerhub is a drag and drop website creation tool that implements the approach of visual programming in building web pages. Instead of creating templates alone like most drag and drop tools, we believe in the power of modules like (grids, sliders, designed tables, image carousels etc).

We intend to make the creation of web applications less stressful, much faster and more efficient.

KwickerHub is created to help designers, content creators, template makers and front-end engineers. Nevertheless, We are hoping on creating a tool for back-end engineers this summer as well. KwickerHub is totally free and should be a great competitor to sites like WordPress or Figma in the nearest future.

Aims and Objective

  • This project will reduce the time spent on building web-apps

  • This project will bridge the gap between front-end developers and UI/UX designers.

  • This web-app will also promote and improve the skill set of developers aiming to become full-stack developers.

  • This web-app will also make the UI/UX designer self-sufficient and effective.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR PROPOSAL

In your application please include answers to the following questions:

  • Who are you and what is your skill set?
  • what projects have you handled before? (if any)
  • Is there anything that you’ll be studying or working on during this period?
  • What feature will you be adding? or What functionality will you be improving?
  • What is your millstone?
  • Is this the only project you will be working on?

Milestone: We will like to understand how effective you will handle the projects and how much time is needed.

Once you’ve selected a project assignment from the ideas page, please include a well-defined, weekly schedule with clear milestones and deliverables around it. Alternatively, if you want to propose your own idea then please include outline, goals, and a well-defined weekly schedule with clear milestones and deliverables.

Please complete a matching mandatory qualification task on the idea page (also linked to with every idea/task on the idea page) when you apply. When applying with your own idea please check with the mentors/org admins beforehand to see which qualification task would be a good match. Applications without completed qualification task will not be considered.
