We’re thrilled to have you here and hope you find what you're looking for 🙌!
The ARTIST Association develops software tools and datasets for differentiable ray tracing in solar tower power plants using digital twins. ARTIST stands for AI-enhanced differentiable Ray Tracer for Irradiation Prediction in Solar Tower Digital Twins. It is an open-source Python
package, built on the powerful machine-learning framework PyTorch
.
Our mission is to advance solar energy technology through the application of artificial intelligence, enabling improved calibration and efficiency for heliostats in solar thermal plants.

ARTIST
, our fully differentiable ray tracer for solar tower digital twins using the PyTorch machine-learning framework in Python. We build and developARTIST
based on the publication below:Pargmann, M., Ebert, J., Götz, M. et al. Automatic heliostat learning for in situ concentrating solar power plant metrology with differentiable ray tracing. Nat Commun 15, 6997 (2024). doi: 10.1038/s41467-024-51019-z

PAINT
, the first FAIR database for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plants. The PAINT database makes operational data of concentrating solar power plants available in accordance with the FAIR data principles, i.e., making them findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. Currently, the data encompasses calibration images, deflectometry measurements, kinematic settings, and weather information of the concentrating solar power plant in Jülich, Germany.🔗 Check out our website here: https://paint-database.org/.
