Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues.

Please describe the feature you have in mind and explain what the current shortcomings are?

There is currently mess in render product types and its kinds regarding their usage locally vs on the farm.
render.farm could be used in families to denote its should be rendered on the farm, render.local locally, but in Maya it is labeled as rendering, in Max as maxrender`.

There is also an issue if instances should be following render as their family or more specific ones.

How would you imagine the implementation of the feature?

Describe how instance should be marked to be processed locally/on the farm in Dev documentation.
Based on that cleanup all DCCs.

Are there any labels you wish to add?

  • I have added the relevant labels to the enhancement request.

Describe alternatives you've considered:

but in Maya it is labeled as rendering

I actually believe the maya family is renderlayer - not rendering
