Android App - Save Button is grey for setting an IP/Host #53
Comments
Hi. Can you confirm that the remote.sh script is definitely running on the mister when you try to connect? Probably best to actually have the status screen displayed on your mister as you're trying, make sure the service hasn't stopped running. |
I can indeed confirm that the script is running on the mister, as I use the remote on my PC all the time (thanks for the hard work!). I'm even able to use the browser-based remote on my PC while this issue is going on. |
I just noticed you're putting the port in this screen. It should just be the plain IP or hostname no port number. Have you tried that? It might also be worth trying the ip address instead of the .local address in case your phone is not resolving .local addresses correctly. |
"mister.local" did not work. But, ah! The IP address DID work. I just copied the value "xxx.xxx.xx.xx" that the desktop app derived into the same field and the Save button turned green after I typed the last digit and poked away from the text field. |
afaik android doesn't do mdns so .local addresses wont |
Hi there! This isn't exactly the right place to leave this issue, but it was the most appropriate I could find.
For the Android Remote app in the Play Store, in the Connect popup, no matter what text you enter, the Save button below remains grey. As such, I cannot save an IP or host name, meaning I can't use the app.
I've tried every version of formatting of the text, thinking you might be validating a format to ungrey the button, but I can't find anything.
When I attempt to use the Settings menu to set the host instead, typing "mister.local:8182" into the same field in the Settings menu, I Can save. But, then the screen immediately turns purple and the app cannot be recovered. Even upon quitting an re-opening the app, the screen will be full purple. The only way to recover the app is to clear the file Storage (not cache) through the Android settings menu and go back to square one.
I'm on a Pixel 7 Pro on most recent firmware. Let me know if I can do anything to help test/debug.
Thanks!
