as this is the import name this name would stick for a long time, if not changed now...
Suggestions:

  • kafka-streams
  • py-kafka-streams

That is a great topic!

We'd love to name it kafka-streams or similar, but want to check with the community before taking the "official" name. Especially the Apache Software Foundation and Confluent might have thoughts on that.

We'll post an announcement to kafka-dev soon(ish), that's probably the best place to discuss this.

As @ah- said already, we would have to check with others before a rename like this. The project should see some more work in the near future so when that happens we will revisit this issue.

What is the status of this initiative? Can we consider this to be the recommended library for Kafka Streams in Python (also being the only one, AFAIK).

@miguno from from Confuent mentioned in confluentinc/confluent-kafka-python#38 that they do not have a plan to support streams within Python nevertheless.
