I was wondering the same thing, the cryptopp.com site is unreachable too :-(

We've considered this project on life-support for a while. We've had a couple of quality-of-life PRs that have been rejected and ignored for years. That has been reason enough for us to abandon Crypto++.

Also, unfortunately this project just doesn't have enough eyeballs on it to be considered safe anymore.

If you're looking for an equivalent C++ library, it seems this is a good-enough alternative: https://github.com/randombit/botan

If you're looking for a general-purpose TLS and crypto-library that produces fast and smaller code, mbedTLS is a good alternative: https://github.com/Mbed-TLS/mbedtls

Both offer similarly liberal licensing (BSD for botan and Apache 2 for mbedTLS). Roughly equivalent licenses and can be used and embedded in any software.

Thanks for the clarification, it's unfortunate to hear that. I also very much appreciate the pointers to alternatives, I'll take a look. Thanks.

Really sad. My favorite C++ cryptography library, have used it a lot :(
