[RESOURCE IDEA] Wayfinding for the WAI website #6
Comments
I am interested in working on this and taking the lead, or co-lead on this. I believe there is an excel file started that might classify some existing resources, and that may be a good starting place. |
I wonder if anyone in W3 is experimenting with creating an AI bot trained on sections of the site. |
I am doing this work during my day gig. We've been trying to crack a role-based model based on skill maturity and we're pairing it with a champions program and a mentorship programs. Would love to get involved here. |
We're finding some good results with adding training materials that answer their immediate questions without forcing them to watch an hour long preso for a 5 minute answer. We're including them in user journeys and we're trying to keep them out of the learning management system and try to be more useful rather than tracked. |
@kakinney , @brianelton , @lbeaze I've created this mural to start capturing ideas discussed during today's call I've sent invitations to folks so you can edit it. Send me an email if you would like access to edit and I think once you have access to edit, you can invite anyone Attaching a PDF snapshot If there is a different collaboration tool that folks prefer, please let me know. |
Adding these links of resources and site map for the W3C WAI site from @kakinney
|
This week Chris O'Brien brought up the idea of creating a visual map for this project that matches the resource we create for the web. I agree that having a visual map and a web-based page of links would help increase the number of people who will benefit from this. The map I had in my head is from Andrew Hick. If there are other maps, like ones created by Intopia that could be helpful, please keep a list of possible resources here until we have a project page for this. @lbeaze @lsr-explore Also, scope document is updated Please send feedback or create requests for edits. |
I have often shared this map from Intopia |

Set of searchable reference cards by Luchiana Terceiro - Has links back to the W3C docs |
hiya. I see that the scope doc includes:
Note that the WAI website has similar pages that are linked from the WAI home page and Get resources for [roles]… These could use improvements. It's on our list, though currently not at the top. As always, input welcome! |
Hi all, @kakinney - excel file as a starting point? It would be great to see that Also: Scope Document Feedback(Scope document: here) General Thoughts The document is clear, organized, and easy to read. Thank you. For further feedback, please see the two issues I've just raised (as Different2day) DiagramIn case this is of interest: I’m working on a WCAG/Cognitive Accessibility knowledge graph. Happy to include WAI educational resources. While it's not a polished diagram, visualisations are available. I hope to share a prototype soon. This might show if graph visualizations could be a helpful addition. AII didn’t initially think AI would be an option, but it may be feasible; I’m no expert, but new AI backend tools are emerging quickly. Semantic search or a “chat with the docs” feature could be very useful. This might be worth exploring—perhaps for a future phase? AnalysisHave just started a sitemap (not aiming to complete it but using it as an exploration tool). URLs are easy to extract with a scraper. I’ll share it once it’s tidied up a bit. If anyone has other ideas, I’d love to hear them. |
I realize I didn’t explicitly mention this—I would very much like to contribute to this effort, if that’s all right. |
Something that was brought up many times in the EO working group is that the WAI website has a wealth of information but it can be hard to know how to navigate it, particularly for people new to accessibility:
I propose a resource that helps people navigate the WAI website.
I also envision that this resource could be published to WAI itself, so we should work in coordination with WAI staff.
