I've written a blog post on debugging shaders with their source code, using RenderDoc and a new VSG feature. Actually, the post concentrates on running a VSG program under RenderDoc, capturing a frame's events, and navigating to the shader rather than debugging a shader, but I hope it's still useful. If you're not familiar with RenderDoc and find yourself tearing your hair out over graphics bugs, you should investigate it; I've found it very useful, particularly when confronted with a blank screen or black polygons.
