I fixed passing CXXFLAGS to the compiler to pass the Debian buildflags (mostly hardening) to gcc. Since this is not a packaging only change I would like review (it is only one line that affects all builds).
The flags Debian passes for the current system can be seen with:
dpkg-buildflags --get CXXFLAGS
