Enabling the UBCPI Tool for your course

Richard Tape edited this page May 26, 2015 · 2 revisions

If you are running your own version of EdX you first must install the tool on your platform. (Instructions on how to do that are coming soon). Once that has been done, here's how to enable the UBCPI tool as an option for your course;

UBCPI is developed as an 'Advanced' tool for EdX. This means that in order to enable it, you will need to adjust your advanced settings for your course. To access those, sign in to studio and then click Settings and then Advanced Settings

Where to find the advanced settings in studio

Next, you will need to add the UBCPI tool to the Advanced Module List setting. To do so, type "ubcpi" (with with the quotes within the square brackets.

The Advanced Settings Screen

If the square brackets are currently empty, you'll want something like the following screenshot;

How the Advanced Module List should look if UBCPI is the only advanced module you have available

i.e. it should look something like ["ubcpi"]

If, however, you already have a module within that list, then you will need to add a comma, then "ubcpi" within the square brackets. i.e. it should look something like ["othermodule","another","ubcpi"]

Click save towards the bottom of the screen and you're done. The UBCPI Tool is now available for you to use in your course. Now go ahead and add it as a component to a unit in your course
