Cropping issue when width or height missing

An error happen on template with hard crop image with one of the 2 dimensions missing, for example :

add_image_size( 'custom-size', 200, '', true );

Is there any solution ?
Maybe automatically keeping the image ratio ?

Or maybie you can don't force user to use strict ratio in that case, just letting him crop free?
