There are various forms of benchmarks that one could have as they train throughout the year
You have your traditional crossfit benchmarks... amanda, fran, diane, etc.
Then you have your gymnastics, weightlifting, and monostructural benchmarks that everyone is familiary with... max rep ring muscle ups, 30 rMU for time, 1 rm snatch or C&J, 500m row for time, 2k row, etc.
then you have current gym benchmarks "we're testing these workouts at the start of the year and will do so again at the end of the year"
within those gym benchmarks might be smaller cycle benchmarks.. Testing a 3rm backsquat now and in 8 weeks after this cycle type thing.
Additionally there are open workouts that are benchmarks but that might be a different thing
