How can I type curly braces into a field?

Description

We have an contenteditable div, that converts {{someVar}} into a <div class="tag" data-variable-name="someVar">someVar</div>

Problem

I noticed that when I was doing user.type('{{firstName}}!'), my input result ends up being {firstName}}!.

Temporary Solution

For now, I have to do something like: user.type('{{{{firstName}}! to get the effect that I want... but this makes the tests really hard to reason.

What do you suggest I use?

I did find this in the docs, but I still don't know what to do.

A note about modifiers: Modifier keys ({shift}, {ctrl}, {alt}, {meta}) will activate their corresponding event modifiers for the duration of type command or until they are closed (via {/shift}, {/ctrl}, etc.). If they are not closed explicitly, then events will be fired to close them automatically (to disable this, set the skipAutoClose option to true).
