Glossary includes not working

This feature looks very useful indeed - sorry to necrobump but I'm not able to get it to work. Building in the material docker container. Using squidfunk/mkdocs-material:6.2.2 via latest tag. Followed docs at this page and have the following relevant sections in config files.

Just -abbr and -pymdownx.snippets ought to be enough right? You can see below that the theme is not detecting the --8<-- shortcode used to find the includes file. This feature works if the glossary is defined in the file itself so I'd be grateful for any assistance.

I tested abbreviations through includes and it works exactly as intended:

It's either related to your configuration or the shortcode contains invalid characters. Try starting from a mint MkDocs project (init a new one with mkdocs init .) and work from there.

Thank you. The conversation here and in #2206 has solved snippets not working for me.

That's great! Unfortunately, there was no easy way making this work with Snippets enabled. The documentation is now fixed, so copy&pasting the code will now work correctly which should also resolve this issue.
