Epistimis is a Privacy First Design startup based on experience in software modeling tools and software privacy. The goal of our open source projects is to create a common ontology for talking about data - particularly data affected by privacy, discrimination, and other consumer protection laws.

Speaking the same language is a powerful first step towards enabling consumers to control their own data. Our open source tools make creating that common ontology possible.

Sponsoring this project is vote to work towards creating that ontology. Sponsorship funds will be used for improving the functionality, quality and usability of these tools. It will also be used to support Epistimis team members' participation in the standards work behind these tools. Consortium/ standards work requires being at the table when decisions are made. The value of that participation is the ability to influence the committee in the directions beneficial to our users. It also means early access to upcoming changes - in the standard and the associated Shared Data Models that form the foundation of that ontology. And that means these tools can be ready as the standard evolves.
