Crimson Pro: Unacceptable spacing for Catalan letter ⟨l·l⟩ #73
Comments
This is strange, because ldot should be in it and functioning. |
Despite what the English-language Wikipedia might imply, ldot (U+013F/U+0140) is not the right encoding for ⟨l·l⟩, and nobody writes it with those characters (for starters, it is absent from keyboards). The right encoding is ASCII 'l', middle dot (U+0307), ASCII 'l'. It is U+0307 that has the excessive spacing. |
periodcentered.loclCAT and periodcentered.loclCAT.case need to be spaced to work well between two l and two L. |
Then we should correct that |
Perhaps the correct way to do is to set a liga. I don't use Glyphs; if this project were developed in FF I'd send a PR |
(This issue is for the typeface @ Fonthausen/CrimsonPro, but that repo doesn’t have issues enabled. CC /@Fonthausen )
Both ells in ⟨l·l⟩ should be as close from one another as possible, ideally harmonizing with the digraph ⟨ll⟩. Compare the words parell and instal·lació―the latter word looks like it’s two words with the current buggy font.
See https://glyphsapp.com/tutorials/localize-your-font-catalan-punt-volat for tips and the font FiraGO for correct handling of the punt volat.
