@DavHau: On the seedhodler-os the online check is alway's saying the user is online. This might be because the ping to the webserver (which is local) always passes

I guess in practice there i no reliable online check that you can do from within a browser. No matter which host you are going to ping, there is no certainty that this host's connection status is representative for your network status. Therefore i consider this online check feature something that is there to prevent you from doing something stupid by accident / not knowing, but not something that we can seriously rely on in terms of security.
Since the Seedhodler OS is designed to block all outgoing/incoming traffic, there is also no real need for this feature there. There are much more reliable ways to ensure you are offline. Maybe it would be enough to have a mechanism for disabling the feature during build or run time.
