Apparently, Baidu wrote gbdt-rs. Their paper abstract claims 10x inference speedup over XGBoost. Looking more closely, this was comparing multi-threaded gbdt-rs with single-threaded XGBoost. gbdt-rs was still >2x faster with both multi-threaded with number of threads = number of cores.

That looks pretty cool! It also supports inference on models trained using Python, that's fantastic.
