Detection of un-correctable errors

Is there any detection of un-correctable errors when you have more errors than t?

The packing isn't perfect on nearly every single configuration, so there are a few cases where you can know you have a t+1 situation. However, any t+2 case is going to be closer to some other codeword or another codeword itself.
