'hygiene' for hiding passwords

i want to try and limit the scope not to 'security' or 'authentication' but specifically to passwords. e.g. how to hide them in a couple different instances.

• a script that only i use, but don't want to have the askpassword popup every time
• a script that i want others to use. i want them to be able to USE my password/credentials, but not SEE my password/credentials.
