Branch naming style

I think it would be useful to come up with a consistent way we all name our branches as branches start to grow. This has some useful recommendations that we can view and try find something that is comfortable for all of us.

Branches should be relatively short-lived so the names should be topic-based, i.e. a kind of summary of (a reasonably small) chain of commits.

We could also use the Create a branch GitHub feature if all the branches are made from Issues. It auto-generates a branch name based on the issue number and title. Then there's one less thing a developer needs to think about. It also auto connects a Pull Request to an Issue.
