GUI broken on Windows 7 Aero, due to visual artifact-glitch, similiar to:

Besides:

  • the glitch occurs sometimes (not always), I don't know what triggers it
  • there is also a risk that the glich might manifest also on Windows 10/11 with external Aero-tools installed.
  • my GPU is integrated Intel HD 4600, with the newest possible driver: 10.18.14.5180 2021-03-09
  • (I also have additionally DPI scaling set at 125%).

^ spam btw, in case it wasn't clear

Edit: the spam comment above this one linking to a scam installer talking some nonsense about gcc has been removed.

It actually not clear it's a spam, why are you saying that? @Frenzie

In any case @garry-ut99, I really don't have any way to test on Windows 7, so can't really fix it unless there is a simple and obvious fix.

@reduf The spam seems to have disappeared, presumably thanks to GH itself if it wasn't you.

reduf : It actually not clear it's a spam, why are you saying that? @ Frenzie

He didn't mean my comment, he meant someone else's spam-comment which appeared for a while between my comment and his comment, and then now has disappeared (it seems the associated account https://github.com/c0ffincolors has been reported and banned). Maybe this is the same spammer's another attempt (on another nick) to promote & advertise app: garry-ut99/test#3

I know that Frenzie only tried to help, but maybe he should formulate his warnings in a different manner, so that even if the malicious comment will disappear, no wrong/random person will be accused of spam, example:
instead of: "^ spam btw, in case it wasn't clear",
should be: "c0ffincolors's comment above (link to comment) is a spam, in case it wasn't clear"

reduf : I really don't have any way to test on Windows 7, so can't really fix it unless there is a simple and obvious fix.

Some of possibilities are: to try on Windows 7 in Virtual Machine, or like I already mentioned in my previous comment, to try to install some Aero-addons onto Windows 10/11 (either on real OS or virtual OS). (Not that I'm asking / requesting or enforcing you to spend your time on it, I'm just suggesting alternative possibilities to be considered in case you are interested).

Maybe this is the same spammer's another attempt

While that is spammy, it looks like "legit" spam. The other one had no relation to the topic at all and was almost certainly malware, as opposed to advertising a competing product that supposedly uses the same user interface library.

should be: "c0ffincolors's comment above (link to comment) is a spam, in case it wasn't clear"

Indeed. I was a bit taken aback I couldn't use GH's normal reporting mechanism, but presumably that's only available on repos you control.

The other one (...)

Maybe you are right, but are you sure, because I downloaded the file (MightyGrep.exe) from link kyle-sylvestre provided, and it showed some detection: VIRUSTOTAL RESULT, but I'm not sure, maybe they are just some heuristic-related false positives. Also for a comparision I provide a screenshot from the banned account c0ffincolors: SCREENSHOOT.

garry-ut99/test#3 : kyle-sylvestre: Are you able to see the display artifacts with this imgui application? Saw you had an issue with a similar project. Don't have the hardware to test it myself

majorgeeks.com/files/details/mightygrep.html

Frenzie: supposedly uses the same user interface library.

If that is supposed to help to solve the current visual issue: so I've run Mighty Grep, and there are no visual artifacts/glitches (nor mouse problems https://github.com/reduf/search/issues/28#issuecomment-2312909633), it just works fine out of the box on W7 SP1 Aero + 125% DPI.

Maybe you are right, but are you sure

I don't know anything about that program, but I'm quite sure that the message is on topic asking if another imgui app exhibits the same issue, and as such it's immeasurably more sophisticated no matter what it is.

After all, this was the message in the other spam. It doesn't relate to anything.

Anyway, as to the OP, ocornut/imgui#5655 looks visually similar (via sammyfreg/netImgui#42)
