could vscode-java honor JAVA_HOME (ignoring what is in path) when starting ?

usecase is that when installing vscode-java jbang can provide a jdk setup but vscode-java seems to ignore it.

Even if you remove from Path it still doesn't let you run JDK in non standard location. I wasted 45 minutes on this, going back to Netbeans
