Panel is not displayed after unplugging a laptop in clamshell mode from a docking station

When laptop is used in clamshell mode (internal display disabled, external displays used) and panel is set to display on single display only, after unplugging the laptop and switching back to internal display the panel is not displayed at all. It seems that the panel does not reset its behavior when configured displays go missing
