will there be an update for pixi v8?

According to https://pixijs.com/8.x/guides/migrations/v8#should-I-upgrade :

rather than migrating [Pixi layers], we will likely incorporate it directly into PixiJS v8 as a feature

See also pixijs/pixijs#10459.

I couldn't find more info than that, unfortunately.
